Hows that shop comin along X??
Im in the market for the following.
The I7 is a bit of a pipe dream though at the moment.
Chips: I7, QX9650, or just the Q9650 with no extreme bits.

the first two i can get online for about $800-$1000 and the last i can get on NEW EGG for $350, im leaning to the later but do ya reckon the Xtreme chip is worth $600 difference.

What have u got under ur hood? and would you recommend a Xeon over the Q9000 series?

and do your reckon water cooling will be necessary and if so any u can vouch for?

Just rechecked and that is the price on the Q9650 not the QX9650....

Wouldnt you be better looking at the i7 CPU instead?

If you check out www.tomshardware.com CPU comparison charts there isnt alot of diff between the QX and Q series

However the i7 920 is 25% better than the QX and check the price out for the i7 920..... $730 inclusive GST NZ.

You just need the x58 mobo....

luv one...but i need a new board then, im runnin 775 1333 fsb i think its 16somthin fsb, that is what id prefer but my board can take the Q which is still pretty beefy and some forums on overclockin it says it runs pretty close to th 7.. was lookin at jst the straight Q no extreme but fark u only live once.
Toms Hardwares a good site i do alot of my reviewing of parts there. Usually gives you best product for your price range

I've never bought a top-end CPU, mid-to-high range seems where these rapidly depreciating chips seem best bought... Of course, if you've got the cash and you want the bragging rights, more power to you. Smile

well im thinkin im spendin 5-6 hundg on the straight q9650 and theres not much below that which is worth buyin, maybe the old q6600 but its still $300 and needs attention to cooling as these newer types are putting out less heat well so i read, who knows really , forum probably written by a rep. So if im spendin $600 on a quad i might as well get a good one and spend a little more, although i should wait a month to see what the i7 does to prices. Soz to bring it up moon, u tryin to get your rig up n all. I jst thought X could maybe set up a little Ds| online parts distribution corner in our forum, when your flush he might even have a price list up for us Idea what do ya reckon X?

Hows that 80g goin x man, not up your arm i hope tsk tsk dont you know you cant catch the dragon.
@ an online store through ebay/paypal i can get the straight Q for $309 US in tha box, he's got 8 left if anyone else is interested. There are a few guys doing them under $300 US but not with 100% satisfaction. Also the QX is going for 450-650 US$ but I cant justify that though so ill spend my Krudd stimurarse on the straight Q

Once i get this baby ull be dust in my Wake Xman

That's a question for ATi, I reckon. I recall that with early SLI (nvidia) it was advisable to have not just two cards of the same make and model, but cards from the same production run. I'm not sure about recent Crossfire, maybe same make and model as your existing card is enough, but I'd do my homework first...

My Q9650 and my $400 has vanished along with the Hungarian cunt who sold it to me Sad fuckin Hungarians... neva trust a man who eats salami.
Is it possible to falsify feedback on ebay?? If so ive been done hook line n sinker. Im off to paypal to hopefully get my money back n buy another from the States. From now on im only buying from English speaking mofos. :

hooray hooray cheers check the "post your rigs" thread for some blown chunks now i need WIN7 64 to utilize 6gb of ddr3 @ 1600Mhz Razz, taken a while but finally its up, though my vid driver keeps crashing qq
Anyone doin a build ask chunk for what u wanna... for starters go the X#8 chipset, they have dual pci channels @ 16x each (thats if you wanna crossfire or sli) unlike most other boards and will give you puter that extra grunt for the high end stuff.
